Your Baby Nursery – Beyond the Essentials

So you’ve got the essentials of your nursery together.  You’ve installed the right flooring.  The walls are decorated just right.  You’ve searched the category of cribs baby furniture  and have purchased the perfect crib for your nursery.  And maybe you’ve gotten a changing table.  You’ve shopped the stores and have bought the dresser that will be perfect.  Now what else might you want for the nursery?

Baby monitor.  These wireless things are really handy.  You can tell right away if your baby has woken up from a nap and is making some noise no matter where you are in your house.  You’ll want to get one.

Baby gliders and baby rocking chairs.  There is just something about having a really soft and comfortable rocking chair in your nursery that sooths both baby and mommy.  Find  one that is sturdily built, very comfortable, and very quiet.  You will find yourself spending plenty of time with your baby there.

Lighting.  Soft, relaxing lighting for those late nights with your baby will be such a blessing to both of you.  Needless to say, the number one priority here is safety, and that includes both the lamp you choose and where you locate it.

Music.  Make provision for playing some music in your nursery.  You might find it enjoyable to experiment to see what sorts of sounds or music are most soothing to your baby.

Toys.  This one is really simple.  You want some age-appropriate toys available for your baby to play with including during diaper changes.

Diaper pail.  You’ll need a hygienic and safe place to dispose of diapers.  Once again, the safety of your child is your top priority, especially when he or she is old enough to move around and explore.

None of these items need to be boring or plain.  You have tons of choices.  Shop around to get the most for your money, but never scrimp on safety or comfort.  Get some quality, solid furniture and it will last you well beyond your first child.  Start with your crib, possibly a changing table, and your baby dresser.  Then build your nursery with the items we’ve discussed here.  And best wishes for much joy with your baby!
